I have a user (actually, two users in the same location, with the same terminals) that is experiencing an odd problem when running applications through Citrix on either of their two Thin Clients running WindowsCE (this is one out of 75 such users all in separate locations). Other users are not experiencing this phenomenon (at least nobody else has reported it).

The problem is that the terminal somehow thinks that the Ctrl key is pressed down. Example: when typing along in Word, user hits the letter 'p' and the print prompt appears. Another example: user hits the 'n' and a new document opens.

There are no stuck keys. One of the terminals in question has been replaced twice. The keyboard for the same terminal has been replaced three times. There are no Hotkeys set in the Program Neighborhood that point to this problem.

Sounds like the user's profile may be corrupted, unless of course this happens when other logon using this terminal.

We have actually re-created the user's profile a couple of times as well. Still no go.

Are you sure users aren't accidentally enabling filter or stickey keys, i.e. by holding the shift key down for more than 5 seconds?

If this is only happening to those users, and you've replaced the terminals and the user's profile, then it's something the user is doing, or it would happen to anyone using a terminal at that location.

It is happening to 3 users on the same terminals (all using the same generic account). They also have a Dell workstation that they also access Citrix from. The problem does not occur there. If they were accidentally enabling filter or stickey keys, they should also be having similar problems in another application that they use from the same terminals. This other application is not through Citrix, but rather through an RDP session to a Windows 2003 Server.

If you are using Windows Remote desktop connection, check "Options>Local resources>Keyboard. Where it says "Apply Windows Key Combinations" make sure that is NOT set to "on remote computer". I'm not even sure if WIN CE has RDC but we had similair problems and that was our solution.

WHat about a factory reset, and re setup?

[blue] Oh you know, just doing what I do.[/blue]

Cheers

thanks ascotta, but a factory reset would be pretty similar to a new terminal already at the factory default settings. The terminal has been replaced twice so far.

iconSYS1 - The problem we are experiencing is with this location is only through Citrix on the Thin Clients, the RDP session has no known issues.
