When you attempt to open another users calendar it might pop up an error saying “The information store could not be opened”. This happens by clicking on FILE – OPEN and selecting a calendar that has been opened in the past.

If I configure Outlook to open that mailbox it opens fine using the same account (not the account for that mailbox, but my account) and if I add that mailbox to my profile it works too.

If I open Outlook to my mailbox, click FILE – OPEN – Other Users Folder and enter the same calendar that failed above it will open. Then it will open using the link described at the top. If I close and reopen Outlook the link will fail.

The site is still in mixed mode, there are no 5.5 servers remaining and the ADC is stopped. There are 5 GC servers and 2 DNS servers. Two of the GC servers are a little SLOW and I suspect this to be the problem and will be removing them tonight.

This happens with SR1, SR1a and XP versions of Outlook. The mailboxes have the correct permissions set.

I have tested this with regard to an MS article that talks about the location in the registry where the name of the GC is stored.

Once I changed the GC that Outlook uses everything worked fine. So I will be removing my slower servers.
