When I shutdown or restart our SBS 2000 server, I get the following error dialogue:

cmd.exe - Application Error
"The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click ok to terminate."

Whether you click OK or not, the box eventually disappears and the system shuts down gracefully. I have not seen a corresponding error in the Event Viewer.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Regards,

Myrdden

You go online with this server?

Possibly check for spyware.

Grab Adaware 6 -
and run it. There are other spyware progrmas out there, maybe someone can post other sites...

Hewissa,

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into that.

I ran adaware 6 as suggested and found nothing on the system.

Any other suggestions? The error still pops up.

Any scripts being executed at logon/logoff?

In taking a closer look at your original post the error is from the cmd.exe application.

I would check to see if there is a logoff script being executed, but not loading properly.
