ODBC Security question

I have a group of users running Windows 2000 in a domain that need to access a database via ODBC on a standalone server outside of the domain.

I have created a generic NT account on the standalone server for everyone to use, but ODBC keeps giving me a security invalid error message.

If I create the user accounts with exactly the same username and password, the connection works fine. I don't want to have to maintain two seperate password files and I'm not allowed to set up trusted NT domain.

Is there a setting that I can turn on so ODBC uses the username and password that I supplied while setting up the ODBC prifle and not look at the username and password the user signed on as?

Thanks,

One is MS Access the other is a third party proprietary database engine.
