Hello,

We have an existing Octel 250 system with a lan card that we manage mailboxes thru a lan connection with a C program that was written for us that uses Octel Command Language via Winsock strings. All the people that created this for us are gone.

We are trying to set up a second box to use for testing and don't know what we need to set up. We have a Lan card installed. Our current system passes in a password that isn't the same as the one we log into the terminal. Where is that set up as we don't see any menu options for a remote access password?

What do we need to set up on the spare Octel 250 box to be able to send in commands via the lan connection?

Where can I get Octel Command Language DOC? I don't see it on Avaya's web site.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks!!

I would like to hear more about this app that you are using also

Make sure you have an IP address assigned for the lan card, I think this is menu 20 or 21. Try to ping that address from another machine.

You have to have the application ID setup in menu 17,

On the existing system, go to menu 17, then menu 2 - Modify,
Use Application ID 255, that will show you the password that is used to logon.

Then go to the new machine, menu 17, then menu 1, set up application ID 255 the same as on the old machine.

The Application ID can be anything from 1 to 255 and the password is set in the App ID. The program you are using to program with will have to know what app ID to log into and you may or may not have to have a type 40 mailbox with the same App ID number in it

WOW!! Finally someone to talk to about this one. This has been on heck of a difficult project. I hadn't gotten any resoponses for awhile so I'm glad I checked today. I'll need to check this out and may have more questions.
