Hello,
I recently updated a pc that has W2k sp4 Crystal Reports 8 Office XP. The program I updated was Office XP from sp2 to sp3. Now when the user logs it and opens up excel it will display the setup screen like the one you get when you run the program the first time and then it goes away. Well this time it will not go away. Also after that the user's crystal report tool bar/shortcut on excel does not work. When she clicks on the tb/shortcut it would display "One of your object libraries (|) is missing or damaged. Please run setup to install it. I have not done that yet. I am afraid that if I do that now it might get worse. The only way I can get it to work is to give the user local admin rights and her toolbar works and also the install screen goes away also. But once I take her out of local admin it does not work again.
Is there a way to uninstall sp3 and go back to sp2? I searched on the net for my problem but there is nothing. Most of the sites that have the same wording as my problem except there file or library is (stdle.exe) something like that. I tried detect and repair and nothing. I want to make reloading office the last thing I do. What about just installing the excel portion? Is that possible? I was thinking of cloing the HD and brining it back to my desk and see if I can fix it. Hopefully someone out there has experienced my problem.
