First what I have:

Microsoft XP Pro 5.1
AMD Athalon XP 2100 1.7Ghz
AwardModular BIOS v6.0
768mb 256DDR RAM
Direct X 9.0c
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT 128mb with driver 6.14.0010.7801
C-Media Wave Device with driver 5.12
Compaq MV920 19" Monitor

Second, my problem:

It would appear that no matter what drivers I install (4.X - latest) on my Video Card I have this lack of brightness. In order for me to see anything, pictures or Video, I have to tweak the Brightness and the Gamma and the Contrast to get a clear immage. I had to tweak all these then save them in my profile so that everytime I login on my PC I would get a nice clear Desktop. The only thing that cannot be fixed is Windows Media Player (WMP). When a video file plays it is very dark. I have to crank up the brightness and thus I get a very poor quality Video, but if I don't do that then I cannot see anything.

The worst is when I try to view a Video from a web page. Sometimes there are no brightness options so I have to copy the properties of the Video's link then resubmitt it into my WMP to play it so that I can tweak the Tool's brightness to be able to see the Video.

Anyone know what might be the issue here? This is a very good card, only 1 year old but this has been going on since three months after I bought it and yes I could have taken it back but I simply lived with it.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

AvayaHelp,

So can I assume that for the first 3 months this was not the case?
First I would take an inventoy of what you did 3 months ago, to include even seemingly inconsequential items.
Are you now using the 6.x or the 4,x driver set?
When did you upgrade?
Going back 9 months can be difficult to impossible, I know.
Barring you determining some item that might have been the culprit, I would check your settings. If you let the NVidia installer do the install you should have their app for settings, probably in the lower menu bar. A app like Belarc or sandra can also give you this information.
Check your control panel > system > hardware > for any conflicts. Also check that MS has not applied a generic monitor driver, if so update and pick the monitor mdl manually.
Try these and report back with particulars.

Hope this helps

Thanks all

As for the double post = OH this is what you meant. I was not aware that I posted THIS Article twice, I did post the same question a few months back so I thought that was what was refered to as the double post.

Sorry!
