I have a user who leaves her workstation on at the end of the day, then goes home and logs in remotely to work some more (using Watchdog firewall, then mstsc to connect to her computer in the office). We cannot get the numlock status to cooperate.

When she leaves, numlock is on.
when she logs in remotely, numlock is on.
when she comes back in the office the next morning, numlock is off.

I've read that this might be a side-effect of remote connections, but is there a way to get around the problem so the numlock key remains on at all times?

Not sure if this will help but here are 2 locations in the registry that I usually change on any computer to make sure it stays on. However I have no idea how it will affect remote connections.

in registry go to hkey_current_user, control panel, then keyboard . Right click on initialkeyboardindicators and left click modify. Set the value as 2

Now navigate to hkey_users, .default, control panel, keyboard and set the initial keyboard indicator to 2 as well.

Not sure if this will help with remote connections but its worth a shot lol.

I've done that already for the user and it works well for bootup, but it seems that the remote connection is causing the problem otherwise. No worries, thanks for the help.

Can you cheat and create a Schedule Task to run at 5.00am every day that might turn the Numlock (back) on, is there a caretaker you can slip a few bucks to, to do the job?

Is there any change you can make in the Bios concerning Numlock?
