Number columns in Word??

Using Word 2000 and Windows xp. Have a table set up and am wondering if any one knows if there is a way to have one of the columns insert continuing numbers? Any and all help will be appreciated.

hI kh707,

Select the column you want numbers in and then click on the numbering icon (the one you'd use to create a numbered list in normal text - with a 1, a 2, and a 3 in a column on it)
