Number 1 on numeric key pad makes italic 1

Using some old documents, every time you press 1 from the key pad it changes the whole line to italic - style. How can this be changed? I've added new styles, but they still do it when I press 1. If I open a brand new document then the 1 is a 1.

Because there is a style sheet set up the use the shortcutkey of "1".
edit you style sheets and take it out, or press the "1" at the top of the keyboard instead...
