I have installed a group of New IBM pc's with Windows 2000, but one of them insists on turning off the Num-lock when the 'Windows 2000 is loading' screen appears. It always powers on with the Num-lock on.
The others do not have this problem and the Num-lock state is set to 'on' in the bios of all of them.

Is there another reason why it might be doing this?

if you go into the regedit,HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\CONTROL PANEL\KEYBOARD, set the InitialKeyboardIndicators value to 2, that should keep the numlock key on

miguel73 is right, I had this same problem with one of my W2K users, and this is how I fixed it.
Besides the .DEFAULT key, the HKEY_USERS section will have keys for each user profile on the machine. They will each have a seperate setting for InitialKeyboardIndicators. You may want to do a search in the reg for this setting and change them all to 2.

Well, this is a far better solution than the one in the Microsoft Knowledgebase (using a .vbs script). Thanks!
