Can anyone explain what a null modem cable is for and how does it work? Can it be used to drag programs/files from one computer to another? Is any software needed? I have a cable and need to transfer some programs and files from one PC to another and wondered if this would work. Thanks for any information you may have.

A null modem cable is a connection that emulates 2 modems back to back without going through the phone lines.
They are used to connect two computers together through a serial port.(along with some other uses)
There are several networking solutions using your cable, from DOS thru windows.
Try "help" for your computer, term to look for is "direct cable connection". Ed Fair
