We were trying to clean out a virus program in task manager processes and accidently stopped ntvdm.exe and wowexec.exe now the dos program we use will not run. We get a message that this is not a win32 program. How do we get these programs running again? Tried to add in task manager application. Not working. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem.
If System Restore is still functional after your "cleaning" and restores your system, you may have to do any cleaning again.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
