This morning I had trouble with an internal modem on a Windows 2000 pro machine. I powered down and took the modem out and then restarted the puter. Up came a blue screen message "STOP 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0xED0808D3, 0x00000000, 0x0000000C)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". When I searched for a solution I found MSKB 302971 which suggested I have the wrong version of the logitech mouse driver. When I attempted to resolve this in Recovery Console, I got a message "NTLDR is compressed".
This led me to read the link where it was suggested to perform the repair procedure. However after putting in the 4 startup disks and my Emergency Repair Disk (updated only last week), I still get the "NTLDR is compressed" message.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it bad news for the MBR or the drive? Or is it even a virus issue?
Any help would be appreciated!
