Using PM 7.0, I am considering converting from the NTFS to FAT32 as a possible fix to a random freezing problem that I have had ever since installing W2K.
I would gratefully appreciate opinions on the validity/effectiveness of this change. John Farrow

Are you sure it is the NTFS formatting of the hard drive that is causing the problem? It usually doesn't unless the hard drive is having problems. Before converting, I'd go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site and download their diagnostic, check the drive. It may be bootable when it creates the floppy or you may need a Win98 boot disk, it'll tell you.

Ya, I doubt your freezing has anything to do with NTFS. I'd guess it's more due to a driver incompatibility.

I agree with what has been said but would also include making sure that you have installed all of the service packs from your PC manufacturer and win2k sp2 or 3 (you did not mention installing these). In particular, make sure that if there is a later version for the BIOS, that you have done that. I had similar problem with upgrades until I made sure that I applied all of the service packs available.

Partition Magic works fine, I use it all the time. One thing, and I speak from experience on this, NEVER try and abort or otherwise stop the process once you have started moving or converting partions. If you do, I think you will find the people at PQ Magic friendly and helpful but it might through your project off schedule.
