NTDLR FILE MISSING CANNOT GET TO REPAIR DISK

I have been trying to "repair" my c drive with my win xp disk, as it will not boot and does not recognize that drive, only the slave "d" drive and states ntdlr file is missing. I have tried to set up in my bios to startup with the cd rom drive, but it will not boot. I made a floppy dos boot disk for win xp, and switched the boot sequence to A drive, gave error disk fail. Is this a problem with my motherboard or my bios?
I also have resecured all cables to my drives.

Sounds like you may have hardware problems that are beyond the scope of this forum and more in the line of a repair shop.

You could try setting the Bios to safe default settings. However, if you can't boot from floppy or CD, not to mention the hard drive, it may be a lost cause.

Some computers will give you a menu like F2 to enter BIOS F12 for boot menu. Some dell note book computers F12 over rides the BIOS.

Thanks for the wealth of information. I have read most of them from MS. I can get into the bios, I just updated it 2 days ago, and the system was running like a champ, when I was adjusting the parallel port settings from epp to ecp, and then it happened. I lost my C drive. I can still go into the bios to change the start up prefs from c, to a , or cd rom, but still cannot get the win xp disk to boot, as well as my floppy dos boot disk.
I think I will take it down to the repair center, and at least recover the info on my c drive and install a new hd. Maybe that is the answer.

Try loading the default/optimised setting in the BIOS just in case it was a setting that you changed thats caused the problem.

You may then be able to 'repair' the NTDLR problem
