Hello,

I am working with a Meridian system trying to provide an analog phone access on the phone system.

The system has a Meridian Norstar Analog Terminal Adaptor attached to it and I was able to get it working except I cannot make outgoing calls.

I was able to:
Dial an extension
Be transfered a call from an extension

I was not able to:
Dial out using 9 or any other number combination that was obvious.

Do you think the adapter is defective?
Does it connect to same output on the connection block as the other phones or on a specific one?
Or is just some number combination to start an outgoing call?

Thanks!!!

The reason why you can't dial out is due to the ATA not being assigned a line pool or it has barring applied to it. You need to go into programming and this is done via a terminal.

You need to access the "configuration" or "Terminals and Extensions" section (depending upon which Norstar model you have!) Go to line access and follow key in your extension number. you should be able to add any lines.

Also you may need to select the extension properties and check that it's been assigned to the dial "9" line pool which is usually "A".

Finally check the restrictions for any barring that could have been applied.

The guide to download will help you access to the older Norstar systems, but you will need to "play" with looking within the programming sections.

Heya,

Thanks for the help so far, I tried today to get into the extension but I could not get it working.

I didn't see any restrictions either.

The system I am accessing does not have a configuration menu, I am dialing feature **23646 to get in, and it doesn't have a menu option called configuration. I found the extension, and looked at other extensions as reference but had no luck when I even matched them.

When I was reading I came across the Auto Line Selection option as part of the Prime line. I couldn't find how to add that though, but that is essentially what is needed I believe, unless its the 9 for out?...

The other phones need to select a line to dial out and the analog one doesn't have the option, though I do have dial tone so I'm not sure what is going on!

I'm new to this old system, usually a phone tech, now I'm shifting into inside wire, and this is even more different than I'm used to.

Thanks,

The reason why you are unable to access the configuration programming is because you haven't access the Norstar system at CONFIG level. Once you are there, you should be able to navigate to the line access and restrictions area.

I tried the **266344 but the password didn't work, I assumed that would be where the config menu is but wasn't sure, but how can I get in if the default 266344 password doesn't work?
