Dear All
We have aNT4 server with SP6 installed on which we have installed an HP 2100 printer. This works perfectly well, all the jobs spool through and print off without any problems. However the jobs are not removed from the printer queue and have to be manually deleted or the hard drive resource fills up quite quickly. The printer driver is not set to keep the file after printing. I would appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance. Iain

I have exactly the same problem, and have yet to find a solution.

One suggestion I might make (but have yet to try) is to delete the printer and recreate it.. *shrug*. [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K

Wait, I know the solution to this now.

You need to grant the following permission on the printer object:

Creator/Owner - Manage Documents

Basically it says that the person that created the document, has the ability to delete it from the server. (Without this permission, no print jobs would be deleted, as users would only have "print" access).

Hope it helps. [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K

Hi,

If you are facing the problem the print jobs are not getiing deleted after printing you will need to check the printer properties. In printer properties there is one option called "Scheduling". In Scheduling there is another option " Keep Documents after they have printed" just untick that option.

Aslamvs: yeah, I knew about that one and it is unticked. Still didn't delete the print jobs though (because of that permissions problem).

Is working like a charm now - print jobs are being printed then disappearing from the queue, helping to keep the free disk space free, [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K

dhawthorn,

After changing the permissions your problme got solved??

cause i have the set up in which on windows 2000 server i have installed 5 network printers and the genaral users i have given them permissions "Print" But fter printing the jobs are getting deleted automatically.

And for Creator owener there are permissions "manage documents" . These should be default permissions.
