Hi there,

Our setup: NT4 as PDC, also serving print queues to the entire network.

Today, for some unknown reason, all the print queues (around 15) brought up solid. As in, whenever anyone attempts to print, Access is Denied error is returned.

I've restarted the spooler service, and have restarted the PDC itself (this was a pain to explain to the higher-ups), but to no avail. After I restarted the spooler service, a single print job was able to sneak through, then the same thing occurred: "Access is Denied".

It's funny, because even printing to these printers DIRECTLY from this server causes the same thing.

Any ideas? There weren't any changes made at all.

Have you checked disk space? Perhaps you are out of space? Also, check the winnt/spool folder for old shadow files, clean those out.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

In the winnt\system32\spool\printers folder, there are a number of 0KB .spl files, and 7 .tmp files, ranging from 3KB to 6339KB in size (named Lpr****.tmp). Other than this, not really seeing anything of significance.

fyi - removed the files from the winnt\system32\spool\printers path, as i read on another site, and voila...printing is back to norm. thanks for the replies, much appreciated.
