nt4.0 critical updates- ? on best way to catch up

I have a server running nt4.0 with sp6. I do not know how many critical updates have been installed. What's the best plan for covering all my bases?
Should I start with ms98-001 and try to install them all again? From my list that is about 124 updates. Is there any problem reinstalling if they have already been done? Do I have to go in order of the way they were released?

The server is running ie5 - i don't care about updating it - can i just skip the updates related to ie?

and letting them figure it out?

I think you will have to ugrade to IE6 though. I believe that will be one of the ones they require before you can install some of the others.

I just do what they have listed as critical unless I see something in recommended that looks like I need it.
