After logging into an NT Workstation machine, I get a window with the following message:

"Cannot find the file 'C:\Program' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

Has anyone run across this message? It is really annoying!

That error is caused by a program executing that has been deleted or moved. Look for a messed up shortcut in the startup group of the start menu or the following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

or if they exists HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

The only other place a program can be executed is in the win.ini load= and run= lines. These are rarely used these days. . . .

Hope this helps!

Lindsey, that's exactly my problem.

David, I followed your suggestion and found the problem, deleted the registry entry that was causing the problem and bingo -- no more error message!

Thank you both!
