NT won't print to networked printers anymore

I have an old NT 4.0 server (service pack6a applied) We had a big thunderstorm and lost power last Friday and when the server came back up (orderly shutdown, it's on a UPS), the networked printers won't print anymore. I have an HP Color Laserjet 4500, an HP Laserjet 4050 (both attached to the network via Jetdirect) and an HP Laserjet 5M directly attached to the server.

I haven't changed anything on that server in months. Some services seemed not to be starting (RPC, Intel File Transfer, Protected Storage) but I was able to manually start them just fine.

The server has always been a little weird since I installed the HP Network Port on it. It takes several minutes to get to the desktop when it is re-booted.

Now, when I try to do pretty much anything with the printers, it takes a REALLY long time. I hunted around Microsoft and couldn't find much of anything applicable. I have re-booted the server several times since Friday. Everything else functions and I have virus checked it with current signatures (none found).

Is there an update to the HP stuff? I couldn't find one on the HP site.

Can anybody suggest anything to try?

It may help to re-install SP6a if you havn't already done so. What is the reply time when you ping the printers?

I ended up creating new printers for the same ports, and they would print fine. Go figure.

I would just reinstall all the printers. You might have to run around and remap the shared ones on the client machines but it might be as simple as that.
