2 days ago When I booted my windows NT machine ...Here is what I got
Windows NT could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\%systemroot%\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMHardware Profile/Last Known Good menu
Press "r" for repair etc...

I tried repairing and was doing lot of research on this..Finally I reinstalled NT 4.0 today as data in the machine was not of much importance to me.

I am running a HP Visualize NT 4.0 workstation.
After installing NT 4.0 when I rebooted the machine when I am at the screen to choose
the OS..I get the 4 options below.

Microsoft windows NT workstation 4.0
Microsoft windows NT workstation 4.0 VGA mode
Microsoft windows NT workstation 4.0
Microsoft windows NT workstation 4.0 VGA mode

First I tried choosing option 1 and I get a page fault trap error.
Again when I do a reboot and When I choose option 3 I get the ctrl+alt+del screen and I am able to login to my machine.

How do I eliminate the first and second option from appearing and where I am going wrong here.

regards
MP

You just edit the boot.ini file in the root of C: (hidden, read only system file normally - so set options to be able to see it). Just remove the first 2 entries (they'll be for your old install - presume you've installed into a different folder - not \winnt - or different partition this time)

Thanks for the reply..
I will try it out and post it.
