Good Morning,

Could anyone with knowledge of NRU and software release levels describe what effects using a lower NRU level with a current software release.

Here is the short version. We have a Norstar CICS with 7.0 S/W and external RAD. Our customer dials in remotely with NRU 9.1 He is unable to connect either directly or via Operator Assist. We have no issues dialing remotely using NRU 11.0 and have replaced the RAD three times already, with each time producing the same results.

I am looking for a clear definition, not speculation, on what if any effect using older NRU versions may have hitting 7.0 switches. They have several hundred CICS and MICS with 7.0 and this issue has now popped up several times.

Thanks in advance for any knowledge that can be shared..

Have a great day!!

Why the big deal?

NRU is free on the Nortel website.
If you're a Nortel vendor just download it for your customer.

The main problem would be the MAP files.
Each release of Norstar s/w requires new MAP files for NRU.
Also, new workbooks for OLP.
I think you only need the MAP files for Browser and BRU, so I'd say the set based GUI should work.
Shouldn't be any connection issues either, unless Nortel intentionally created some.

HTH!
