I am a Novell NW admin newbie. We have a single Novell NW 5.0 SP6 server. It is losing about 12 minutes in 24 hours.

I have set the values in Timesync.cfg to the default values, Configured Sources is OFF and Time Sources is ;.

I've tried changing Configured Sources to ON and setting Time Sources to 67.18.58.210:123; , but I get an error message that "Cannot communicate with 67.18.58.210:123!"

I looked at the network cards that we have , and the PORT is listed as ECE0. Is this part of the problem?

I replaced the BIOS battery and upgraded the BIOS and ESM on the Dell PE2500 server last week, as we thought the battery may be weak and the server was getting a timesync from the hardware.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Karl

You need to go back to using the configured time source and figure out why it can't communicate to that address.. Maybe your firewall is blocking port 123? Or try some different addresses.

On NW5.0, you may need to restart the server or do a "Set timesync restart flag=on" before it will start working.

Unloading/reloading timesync (like the tid says) may abend your server.
