I'm a office technology instructor. I have all my student grades in a access database. I have created a front-end database for them that displays their grades if they are logged on. I want to check their attendance by using a similar feature. I know that it can be done. When they log in, I want Access to capture their logintime or Novell to send the logintime to access. Can anyone please help me? this database project is working great so far and it would be even better if i can show my students how things like this are possible.

The closest I can think of is to have, on startup, call Access from a batch file and run a special "student has logged on" macro or subroutine in your database, using the current time as their official login time.

I haven't specifically read any examples of others accessing the Novell-specific information, but if you want, you can try comp.databases.ms-access . I think your question is more of a Visual Basic/COM question than an Access-specific question (though I'm definitely not saying that this is the wrong forum).
