Novell client 4.9.0 sp2 issue

I have a problem using this client. When I have a workstation with this installed, I sometimes go to login but if I take too long (about 12-15 seconds) after I enter the login name, the system locks up and I have to reboot? Any ideas on this would be appreciated. The OS is XP pro SP1. This happens on a workgroup system as well as a domain system. I have tried reinstalling the software over and over again with no results. This also happens on a new system rebuild as well.
