Not mounting tapes

We are running netbackup 4.5

acsls 6.1

The backup starts and and after working for a while Netbackup trys to mount tapes and is getting the message "tape number" is unavailable.

the tapes are in the silo, and in netbackup, some are in the scratch pool and some are in the policys pool but it will not mount them.

any ideas ?

From your ACSLS console have you run the "q vol xxxxxx" command? This will give you the true status of the tape.
Depending on the status you may need to do an ACSLS audit of the library, and of course then inventory the ACS robot form NBU.

Is "SCRATCH_POOL = Scratch" (or whatever you have explicitly named your Scratch pool) in your vm.conf file?

I know I've asked more questions than provided answers, but these are the places I would start.

We have checked the acsls and the tapes are there, we have run an audit i think at this time 2-3 times not. I worked ones over the weekend. The backup launches 4 streams and most of the tome three of the streams end good rc=0 1 will end 52 after trying tapes all night. the scratch pool is fine we have other media servers doing the same thing but others working fine.

Next step would be drive allocation, do you use SSO? Can you provide a brief description of your environment.

acsls v 6.x
netbackup 4.5 FP7
9840b stk drives
about 30 media servers. Master seperate from media servers

this has been working for a long time and just started last weekend.

We have not been able to tie this to any change YET.
