I have been searching threads since 9am and cannot find an answer to my problem and am extremely embarrassed to ask for help on what I am sure is something simple; but, I'm desparate. I have a form with one bound field and three check fields. Usually, when I enter data, I type data into the first field and tab through the three checks until it gives me a new record. For some reason it will not go to a blank record by just tabbing, and instead makes me use the navigation key (where I can see all 700 records) or use my "Enter New Record" button, which I really don't want to do when entering a bunch of data. I have compared this form's properties to another form that works and they are exactly the same. Please, does anyone know why it is doing this?

BTW: Allows edits, deletions, and additions are all YES; Cycle is set on All Records.

Thanks for any help, Janet Lyn

Do you maybe have another control on the form with the tab stop property set to yes and the tap stop index set after the last check box?

All three checkboxes have the tab stop at yes and the tab index set at 1,2,3 respectively. I'm am not sure if that is the same as the "tap (not making fun of you just not sure) stop index" is but could not find it with tap or tab. Thanks for the help. Janet Lyn

Yeah, it was a typo. Meant tab index.

Is there any other controls on the form (i.e. Control Button, text box) with the tab index set to 4 and tab stop set to yes?

Yes I did have a 4, but tab stop is NO. Everything else on the form are labels. So I have a 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 0-3 are tab stop yes and 4 is tab stop no.

If my form's Record Source is a table, why do I have a 5 in the next line down Filter. I keep taking it out and it puts it back in. Could this be part of the problem? JL

That is probably what the problem is.

Are you setting the filter thru code somewhere?

If not try repairing the database and removing the filter on the form.

You may have to recreate the form to get rid of the filter but I don't want to say that is the absolute case.

Well, I found where I can make the filter go away, but it did not resolve my original problem. It still will not go to the next record.

I then wiped out all the code for the form, and copied code from a form that is working and that did not change anything.

I then compared the form that is working with properties of form not working and they are exactly the same.

I went in and compacted and repaired and that did not work.

I went in and completely made a new table, copy/pasted the records into the new one, deleted the old one, and renamed the new one to be the old one. That did not work.

I think I have gone through all of your suggestions. Please massage your brain and try to come up with some more. I appreciate all your help, Janet Lyn

One thing I haven't asked yet,

What does the form do after tabbing thru the check boxes?

Where does the focus go?

Right back to 0 (the first field of entry). A constant loop. Is there a different way to tell exactly where focus is each step? JL

Is there any chance you could email me the form so I could take a look?

Janet,

I have figured out your problem rather quickly after looking at it.

You have put that form in the Form Header section. Move it to the Detail section and it should work just fine.

Mike, I know I replied to you personally, but I wanted everyone to know what a genius you are for figuring out the problem. I wish you could help figure out all my problems, but then you would go crazy so thank you for solving the one that will help me continue working whilst I repair the db.

Have a most wonderful day, Janet Lyn

Your very very welcome Janet

It was my pleasure [thumbsup2]
