Not enough memory to open form - first time only

From my main menu I can access a number of detailed forms and sub-menus. Once of the forms is relatively large (200 odd controls on 6 sub pages) but has recently been reduced in size from before.

If this form is the first item selected after starting Access I get the error "Microsoft Access. There isn't enough memory to perform this operation. Close unneeded programs and try the operation again". If I close the error box and re-select the form it works as it should. No errors occur if another option is selected first and the form always opens without problems when subsequently selected.

This problem is happening on a number of machines with varying specs and regardless of whether the program file is located on a remote or the local machine.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to try to solve this please?
