Not Consistent performance

Program written in VB6 packaged using Microsoft's PDCMDLN.EXE and using Windows Installer installs and runs OK on 1 PC with Windows EXP and 1 PC running Windows 98,
However when installed on another machines using Windows 98 will install OK but when running stops with message " The program has performed an iilegal operation and will be shutdown". Details indicate that RPCRT4.dll is involved. Replacing the module (RPCRT4.dll ) with one from computer that is running the program OK does not solve the problem.
Any ideas what may be wrong? Thanks
