We have a Norstar key system (about 7 years old) and we were able to program buttons on the telephones for internal/external autodial. One of our users would like to change one of their autodials. The code is F * 2 (according to booklets and the template attached to phone). I am able to "program" tbe button by pressing F *3, but as soon as I press Feature and the * key to program autodial, it won't let me press either 1 or 2 for autodial. Is there anything I need to reset or do I need to have a vendor come out and take a look at it? The only thing it lets me do is press F * 7 (for display contrast of the phone).

You might want to see if you have set lock on the set.

There is no error message, it just locks up. As soon as I enter the * and plan on entering either a 1 or a 2, the dialpad will not let me enter it. I checked set lock and it is set to "no". This set is the attendant telephone. I tried it on another telephone, and got the same response.

About 8years old. However, autodial has been programmed on these sets before because they are there today.

I tried that too. It will not let me do anything after I press the * key. The number 7 (contrast) is the only entry I can make after the * key. Would it help if I powered the system down to reset it?

What series of phone are you trying to program button on ? How many buttons are programmed for line keys and Itcm keys ?
Are you able to button inquire set ?

It is a 7310 with the autodial module (I think it has 20 + buttons for autodial-attendant console). The other phone I tried to program was just a plain 7310 with no attachment.

I'm sorry but did you say a 20 button module. If I'm understanding you correctly you are trying to put a CAP modulue on a 7310. CAP modules are only for 7324.

The only attachment you can put on a 7310 is a BLF, Busy Lamp Field.

I'm sorry, it is a 7324 set with a CAP module. The autodial also does not work on a basic 7310 set either.

Have you gone under maintenance and see if you can disable and re enable the set and module and see if that helps. If you have try using a different port. You could have bad 2 bad ports.

press FEATURE * 2
select the button you would like to program
enter the extension #

NB: The function itself F*1, F*2, F*3, cannot be programmed as a 'one-touch button'.

Sounds strange, if the system is not an 8x24 with memory caps you might try a reboot. If it's a MICS or CICS you should come back ok.
Good luck........

Can you check what function is programmed under the key at the moment?

Can you blank the key then try to program.

Is the key a display key or a non display key.

Hi Rico what did you mean when you said the button couldnt be a one touch button on those features? thanks
