Not able to handle more Idocs

In our system, SAP is integrated with all other subsystems.
Whenever more than 2500 Idocs dispatched from SAP,
the connection gets closed in the gateway and also
that the event server gets crashed.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

What version, what OS, what SAP Gateway version, Where is the gateway located in relation to the ES? How big are the IDOCs? What are the servers hardware resources?
