Norton vs McAfee

My thought is that it depends on where you're using it.
If it's at work, go with what others are using-just to support the idea of standardization.
If it's at home, you might be better off with the avg product.
I have avg running at home on one computer that will not run the McAfee v5 I bought for it. I have McAfee v5 on another system.
I used McAfee v5 on my computer at work. It worked fine. I tried an upgrade to v6 and had some problems-I can't remember if it was the install or in feeling like the computer was running a lot slower-I uninstalled it, went back to v5 until the company switched everbody to Norton. I have been afraid to try McAfee v6 or 7 on anything else.

I use mcafee VShield at work i have to admit that it loads the computer A LOT in some cases i have to wait for a few minutes just because on access scanner is enabled and the AV has to scan the file i m accessing. On the other hand if you disable it you might get infected. It happens when i try to open bsplayer to play avi files or with some executables like winrar. (I have a PIII 550MHZ 190MbRam)at work.
At home i have norton 2003 on a AMD XP 1700 with 512DDR and i m very satisfied. There was an issue after an update. the antinirus and the firewall took a few minutes to load but after 2-3 reboots the problem never occured again and i have seen it on various pc s not only mine.

I use this at home and work. For home, it's free with free updates, and it works fine on both 98 and XP.
