I tried loading Norton Antivirus 2005 on Windows 98. It already had Norton 2004 on it and when I tried installing it it froze up. Now 2004 is gone and there is no 2005. I tried installing 2005 again, and now it won't start. HELP!

Windows 98

133MHz or higher processor
64 MB of RAM
90 MB of available hard disk space These are the rquirement. Go to My Computer, control panel, and see if the norton is the add/remove software list. If it is uninstall all norton and reinstall.

Reboot and hold the CRTL key down while booting up. This will give you a menu. Select SAFE MODE. Then when you get up see if you can delete NORTON 2005. Also run MSCONFIG in safe mode. Uncheck Norton from the startup tab.

The Symantec support site has information on how to manually remove 2004 and 2005 AV.

The doucment ID to start with is:2005012615473746

Just go to and search for that Doc ID.

About half way down it has links to the manual removal pages.

This should give you a good place to start.
