Norton, Ad-aware and Spybot Hang when updating online

These could be related, or not. Read the following thread on problem with Norton that developed a week ago.

Basically I've found disabling the office plugin helps, but Norton itself will still be slow. It should finish though.
As for Spybot, I've found it tends to hang if you download from the default server, in Europe. After you hit, check for updates, change the server to the one in the US.
If you still cannot update, you can go to and and manually download the spybot and norton antivirus definitions updates, then boot to safe mode, and run full scans of both. Clean anything found, reboot and try again.
Let me know if you're still having problems after this.
