Just starting to look into possibly replacing our Nortel Meridian Option 11C, as the annual maintenance costs are killing us. Does anyone know if the M3904 sets are compatible with any other phone systems/brands?

Thanks for your help!

If the system is working for you then I would shop around for different maintenance options.

I've not heard of an O-11C costing much in maintenance. Either you have a messed up intall or a messed up maintenance contract. The cost of upgrading to a VoIP enabled system would probably be a lot less than replacing as the desk phone is by far the most expensive part of the replacement. I am currently replacing thousands of Nortel phone with Cisco (because I have to, not because I want to)and the handset is 80% of the overall cost.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Yes, I think we are probably being overcharged for maintenance (Centurylink), but we inherited the system and at the time couldn't find another servicer. It's working fine now. Does anyone have any leads on a good Notel maintenance partner in the Minneapolis area?

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS AND AVAYA

Take a look at the Citel Portico Telephone VoIP Adapter. I haven't used them before, but they can terminate your M3904 sets and utilize them as SIP Phones.

You can get maintenance from several different companies, however, the level of support is what you are buying. CenturyLink is a Platinum Partner, you pay for that level of service from them and Avaya. Are there cheaper options? Sure there is. But how important is your telephone service? Can you afford to be down for days why the budget company tries to get parts? Or do you want a company that has the parts in stock? Do you want a technician that is certified on your equipment? Or do you want a tech that saw a CS1000 once in a picture? Lots of things to consider, ultimately it comes down to what your comfortable with.

Thanks again everyone for your help.
Yes, KCFLHRC, I've certainly had my share of bad service which is why we ended up with CenturyLink. There are certainly a lot of factors to consider, but it's always a challenge to balance your budget with quality service. We're a small company and this system is a bit overkill for us. We'll do our due diligence and hopefully find the right partner at the right price.

BlackBox has always been good for us. Several options availible from T&M to 7X24, CPU only to all components......

It's a phone system, NOT a clock!
