Hello,

I recently bought a Nortel MICS w/PRI. The system came pre-configured with few options. However, every time I need to make an outgoing call, I have to dial 8, (to get an outside line), then add 1 + 10 digit number.

If I dial the 10 digit number without adding 1, then it only sends 7 digits to my provider. Is there any way I can get rid of that 1 so that I only have to dial 8 (to get an outside line) and 10 digit number.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for your help in advance!

You will need to modify the Public DN length and add all area codes that do not require a 1.

Example: Phoenix Arizona has 3 local area codes that do not require a 1, they are 480, 602 and 623. So when setting up Public DNs, I need to add the three area codes and tell the system to look for 10 digits before setting up the call. Another way is to just change the Default length to 10. But then there will be a 4-second delay when dialing any number that only needs 7 digits.

Thanks for your quick response. My provider is XO and they allow any number of digits, 10, 7 or international. Where can I access the Public DN Option in the system to permanently change the default to 10 like you suggested.

Thanks!
