Hi Nortel folks...!

It's sad to announce that nortel has filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. bankruptcy code and and has also filed for protection in EMEA regions.

What do you guys think about this?
Do you think nortel will exist in the future and maintain their position in the market as a leader in IP-Telephony?

I saw the other post after I posted my own message. Sorry about that. But I am actually asking customers and vendors what impact this really has...?

As a general comment, there is a lot of confusion - even among newspapers and analysts - as to the difference between "bankruptcy" (chapter 7 in U.S. terms) and "creditor protection" (chapter 11 in U.S. terms). Nortel is NOT in the former state.

This reason why we big companies like Nortel is on this kind of situation, its because some analyst that doesnt really knows telecom industry say's Nortel Brand will disappear in 6 months which is crap!!!!! almost 20% of phones worldwide is Nortel how can it happen in 6 months, sometimes they are the culprit they comment and analyze things with their little knowledge (mostly doom forecast) and spreads like fire that creates hysteria, i like the comment below from blogger:

"This is part of what is going wrong in the markets these days - too much crap being written by people who don't know much about anything - and then reported on by suuposedly reputable newspapers thereby lending undeserved credibility and fuelling the hysteria. Do everyone a favour and stop giving this crap undeserved attention".

I agree with this comment, Nortel is struggling but not the way some analyst wants to project that it is doomed
