Why is this an option that only someone with a Level 2 password can change? Seems like a simple thing to restrict access too. Does Nortel charge to change it?
if your talking about the banner "nortel" on the phone or the banner that you see when you log in.. the phone banner is nortel billable, you can change it if you have certain pkgs, or eng level access.. the one on the screen is ld 17 chg adan
adna chg tty x
return down to banner and enter no..
the access level you have is determined by the company that has the level 2, my customer has access to everything except passwords and auth codes.. it was set that way before my time..most customers, that's not a problem, others should only be given access to ld 2, to set the time...jmo
I was told that the level 2 pwd is needed to change the banner (the one john talks about above that is on the phone), so no one gets upset and puts "my company sucks" on all the phones. Or something similar.
may be the reason, but access rights are flexable. if it's your switch, maybe you should have the level two. most companies will give that to an end user, with a disclaimer on charges for problems caused.. we had a cust with the level 2 that changed the passwords and never got back into the switch.. had to have the password reset..total cost 10 years back was 2 grand
