I may be going to a Nortel/Avaya (6351) CS1K 7.0 Administration & Management class. I have not been able to find any kind of documentation that it will have a Cert exam at the end of the class.
Everything Nortel did had a Cert!
Does anyone know if that is the case or if it does have a cert?

Not sure I see any 7.0 Cert’s other than Sales & Engineering.

I would for sure call the training center rather than rely on us.

Welcome to the world of Avaya. Classes are there for the taking, but Certification is changing.

You can get certified on three different paths:

1. SME (Small / Medium Enterprise - IP Office, since all small systems from Nortel are going away. IP office will suffice as a great system for small and medium sized businesses.

2. UC (Unified Communications) This will combine all non-Contact Cetner applications under one certification. Crazy right. So you get the APSS (Avaya Professional Sales Specialist) and/or APDS (Avaya Professional Design Specialist) Then you get your IS (Installation Specialist) exams to install or maintain specific products.

3. CC (Contact Center) Pretty much the same as above.

Most certification paths will go away and Specialist classifications will take their place. If you go to Avaya's website and check certifications you will see the diagram they have come up with. Currently there is no test available for Succession 7.0 as they would rather you put in a Session Manager and SIP to their platform, but oh well, they did say there would be one more release on Succession.

I would try to go to an Avaya Session Manager class maybe Communciation Manager 7.0 so you will see how the Aura platform will finally bring the two together.

I know this is probably what you didn't want to hear, but ultimately you don't really take certs after classes any longer. You may take a test, but any certification tests, be them Avaya or Nortel are taken at independent testing centers and usually cost about another $150.00.

Hope this helps.
