I am wanting to hear from anybody who has had any problems with the PASS contract. We do not have a PASS at this time and our CFO want to keep going without PASS. I need to hear of any horror stories using or not using PASS. I need a real life answer for him.

I am in Asia Pacific and here is my personal experience of PASS.
If you continue without PASS:
- No access to patches.
- No access to technical support.
- Cannot order upgrades including ISMs without a valid PASS contract.

I have PASS on various sites and have found the technical support ranges from average to appalling. They closed the local GNTS.
Every time I order an upgrade I get stung for additional PASS, with what I consider excessive rates. For example, our discounted buy price for additional licences was less than the PASS price that was quoted.

Having said all this I probably would not want to support an existing site without PASS due to the lack of access to patches.

What release of software and what system type? We have customers that have ordered ISM upgrades without a PASS subscription in place.

New systems require PASS, but there are companies out there that support without PASS and do so just fine. It all depends on the level of expertise of the technicians.

I have serviced this system for 26 years. I have run across some very interesting problems over the years but there is one problem that I could never fix and that is one created by the developers and requires a PEP to fix. If i can get PEP's then I would not need this PASS. I guess I am the reason they don't want to sign the PASS.

find a way around the patch problem.. or do not upgrade.. IF you site is static, not adding a lot of new features etc.

not paying for pass will save money, so will firing the vp that thinks you do not need access..

at this time i would not pay for nortel tech support. at one time it was the best in the market

What type of business. Remember First Responder businesses will be able to get T&M support as needed without the need for a PASS subscription.

Military
Hospitals
Police...etc..

We are a hospital. I have not heard that from anybody. Where can I get info on this?
