I'm running a M8X24DS with about (8) 73XX instruments. The overall level of the callers is low. We constantly have to crank the level up on the phones every time one is answered. Is there anything within the system that would provide a higher audio level? thanks

go into Programing >> System Programming >> feature settings >> Receiver volume >> and set this to Use set volume.

this way you can adjust the volume one time and not worry about it again.

If this does not provide enough you can adjust the distance from CO in lines >> Loss Pkg: you can adjust hie length (loss) as further away from the CO and get a bit of gain. Do this carefully, you don't want to overdrive this and get the telco ticked at you.

Jerry, I have never seen such a menu in my programming - I can get Config, General Admin, Copy, Maintenance...which is why I didn't think I could adjust overall system level - your thoughts?

Thanks Brian - so can I assume there is no way to adjust the overall level on this system? Nothing in the KSU for gain control? Can anyone suggest a good upgrade to replace this aging system so I can still use all of my #73xx series instruments / thanks

0x32 say 5.0 was stable for pots lines
call pilot 100 for vm
2 analog trunk catridges or CID trunk catridges for 8 in/outbound calls
this would give u a 8x32 expandable out to 8x288
or any other combo of 16 set/trunk modules

BCM 50 will support 12 73XX, 4 analog lines, 4 analog stations. I'd buy that before a CICS.

Sorry I missed the 8X24 note.

Nortel has bundled the cics/caller id/voicemail pretty nicely now and it really is a better idea unless you have your heart set on IP.

Im currently using 4 co lines with 8 instruments - it is an 8x24 with DR3 software and a startalk min VM add on. Just a small biz application. I use startalk to answer the primary line after several rings and give out weekly information thru various menu prompts.

If you're using menu prompts, it's not a startalk mini; probably a regular startalk flash. Is the vm cabinet the same size as the KSU, or smaller? If it's a smaller box, then you probably can get away with upgrading the software on the VM, and still use the same vm cabinet with a CICS.
