Question for you guys. I am using word 97 and I have a problem with normal.dot. I get a message asking me if I want to save normal.dot. I went into tools | options | save tab | made sure I didn't have a check next save to normal.dot on exit.

I also made sure stamps was not installed in my computer. I have a feeling it might be a macro, but I didn't see any installed on her computer. She is using a glodal template. I'm not sure and help would be greatly apprciated. I'm on site right now so sooner the better thanks guys. Who ever anwsers this right is da man.

If normal.dot doesn't contain any macros or autotext entries, styles or custom toolbars, just delete it. You have a volatile expression in there somewhere.

If it does contain any of the above, rename normal.dot then you can use organizer to get back some of those utilities.

If you need more info on Organizer, please post back.

She is only using autotext. Do you think if I renamed it to normal.old and rebooted and started word new normal.dot would be generated.

We are having a problem locating normal.dot from 97 when we install XP. Specifically, we cannot figure out how to find autotext that was created & saved in Word 97 when we install Word XP. Can anyone help with this issue?

It might be good idea for you to start a new thread.

Did you save the normal.dot from 97 anywhere?

The problem was that with word 97. If you open more than one instince of word it will promt you and ask you if you want save normal.dot.

The user was double clicking on the word on the quick lauch bar.

End Users drive me crazy sometimes.
