Every once in a while when I reboot my NT workstation I get a Dr. Watson message stating that an application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated -- NOPDB.exe -- Exception access violation (0xc0000005), Address: 0x04e555e6.

Does anyone have an idea what this is? I've tried looking at the log from Dr. Watson but cannot get anywhere. Anything would help.
Thanks,
DM

Try searching the local hard drives for NOPDB.exe. Based on where this program is, that will give you a place to start (application name, etc.). You can also right click on the file, choose properties, and sometimes get additional information about the program from the Version tab, if present.

This is probably part of Norton System Works, and is used to speed up access to files on the disk. You should disable this in the System Works program, and your problem will be solved.

This program is a support Service for Norton SpeedDisk, I think it is used to determine how to optimize your programs based on the order the files open.
It's data is therefore only used during optimization (when you run SpeedDisk)
My problem is that I can't keep the service running, and therefore I can't run SpeedDisk.
