Hi, I'm currently investigating the feasibility for our company to switch to a linux/samba implementation. I have run this combo in the past with good success, but on a much smaller scale; now 75+users, previously 10+users.
The one thing that seems to stick in my mind as being a problem with samba was that reconfiguring the smb.conf file and restarting the daemon caused people to lose their connection with the server occasionally resulting in data loss.
Was I just doing something wrong or is this just how it works? With a larger implementation, we obviously cannot be kicking people off the smb server just to add a new share during working hours. High availability is very important during working hours.
I guess my official question is: does restarting the smb daemon cause connected users to lose their connections?
Thanks in advance.
(I realize this is a real noob question, but please bear with me.)
