I have a Windows 2000 SP3 Compaq PC with a Nokia DAU-9P serial cable and an old Nokia 5110 mobile phone. When installing Data Suite 3.0a (the Windows 2000 update for 3.0), it tells me that it has detected a phone on COM1 (COM2 works as well), so I continue with the installation. All seems fine. Then when I load Data Suite there is no phone available! I can select the GSM modem in the modem settings and query it successfully, so it seems that the phone is connected properly, although it clearly isn't.

I have tried everything I can think of, from installing on all of the different ports to installing under the administrator account on the local machine.

The annoying thing is that I have removed this phone from a different W2K PC where everything worked fine and it would connect every time.

Has anyone else come accross a similar problem?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Have you checked in Control Panel under system to see if there are any modem related problems?

Yes. When you install the data suite on either COM1 or COM2, it seems to install the Nokia GSM Modem on COM3 (which I presume is some kind of Virtual COM port). And it all looks ok.

Any other ideas?

I'm thinking that I may just wipe the PC and start from scratch to see it that works!

Cheers

To browse your phone with data suite e.g
you need to disable the modem connection
using connection manager .
Pc suite cant connect to the phone as com1 is busy
as a modem.
