I have EliteGroup(ECS) motherboard model:p6vxa with on board sound card (Audio codec:AC97).When a sound is heard from speakkers I hear also noise.Does anyone knows why.Speakkers are ok because i check also with headphones and noise is heart too.I also disconnect the extra fan of the computer case and noise still. If anyone has any idea what is the problem please tell me.
Thank you very mush.

I'm not an electronics major or nothing, but what it sounds like to me is a component on the board is receiving a little more power through it that it is designed for, such as a transistor, resistor, etc, If the board is still under warrenty, I would check into a replacement. Thats just a guess, hope it made sense...

Check settings in the mixer; if any are at maximum, turn them down to no more than 80%.

Ideally, keep mixer settings around 50-70%, and control the speakers using a hardware volume knob. Obviously you'd need powered speakers for this - but non-powered PC speakers generally suck(tm), to use a technical term.

It's possible, but unlikely that it's an electronics problem.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

I checked all mixer settings and set to about 50% but nothing.Noise still.
anyway thank you very much for your responce.

Maybe the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers would help - have you tried that? CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

what os? what sound card?

newest drivers?

...OK, I'm guilty of assuming that the O/S is a flavour of Windows - in which case there is a Via patch which addresses this (this board uses the Via Apollo chipset).

If it's Linux, I haven't looked for a patch, because I haven't ever needed one.

As far as the sound "card" is concerned - it's an integrated AC97 RealTek device, which needs to have a software codec in order to maximise performance;

Power supply generate this noise. Direct current is not quite constant. I would write momre about it, but my english is not fantastic as you see.

It could be line in beside mentioned.Mute all reglers that are not used and keep main volume on 3/4.Line in could cause that noise. Sleew

Thanks all for your response,
I use dual boot win98se & winxp and i have the same problem with both operating systems.I tried almost everything you mentioned till now but i still have the same problem. The only driver that i didn't install and iam going to install now is via 4inone driver , but now i believe that problem is maybe case power supply(note that i boght it for about $100) or power supply fun or cpu fun.
Since i try via drivers please tell me your opinion.
Thank you again
