No temp download

Greetings all,

How do I in easists way turn of the temp download function in windows xp pro? I want it to directly download to the location of my choice :(

Somehow I still manage to make it work
 
It should "stick" if you change the location.
 
The thing is, it download to a temp dir first (c:\documents and settings\user\temp\) and THEN moves to my selected location, and with my slow hdd it can take some time and slows down my already slow computer :/

Your hard disk should not be that slow.
Something else is going on.

See: as one off-the-wall possibility:
See if the Disk Cleanup tool offers some relief, particularly if your TEMP directories are full of junk.

Cleanup Temporary Internet Files while you are at it. A defrag of the drive is always a good idea.
 
I have only a laptop with a 4200rpm, and moving things between partitions takes some time ;/
