I'm trying to figure out the reason I am receiving this error...anyone have any insight?

Source: Schannel
Type: Warning
Event ID: 36872
User: N/A

"No suitable default server credential exists on this system. This will prevent server applications that expect to make use of the system default credentials from accepting SSL connections. An example of such an application is the directory server. Applicaitons that manage their own credentials, such as the internet information server, are not affected by this".

Thanks,

Oh, btw...I also have this error in the Directory Service log:

Source: NTDS LDAP
Type: Information
Catagory: LDAP Interface
Event ID: 1220
User: N/A

"LDAP over SSL will be unavailable at this time because the server was unable to obtain a certificate".

Patty

Hi Patty,

If you're not using a CA, I believe you can disregard this warning.

Bronto

Patty, Bronto's correct about the 1220 per the latter link. Have you looked at the first site about the first problem? Good luck.

Thanks Bronto and Glen...

Looks like some students were 'messing' around with Certificate Services, (to be expected in this environment).

Good to know about the EventID.net site...I'll use it in the future! :)

Actually, event id site isn't bad, but I just do a google search for the event id's. Get more hits than with the event id site. (Event id comes up in the search.)
